Angie was born on June 6, 1980 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She had a thirst for knowledge, a creative nature and a love of language from an early age. As a young girl, she loved to sing and took dance lessons. As a foreign exchange student in Chile while still in high school, she became fluent in Spanish and got her first taste of the vastness of the world around her. She developed a lifelong wanderlust, and a love of travel and experiencing other cultures.

After graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1998, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from the University of Iowa. Angie went on to attend university in Barcelona, Spain, where she received her Master’s Degree in Linguistics. She was united in marriage to Nasir Khan and they ran a business together in Barcelona for several years.

Later they moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where she taught preschool and early elementary. She found great fulfillment in putting on plays and getting creative for her international students. Her deep love for education and children manifested as she became a loving and devoted mother to her two sons. Those boys were her whole world and have taken on the same light and life their mother exuded. More recently, they had moved back to Marshalltown to be closer to family.

Angie had a hunger for knowledge, truth and a deeper understanding of other cultures and humanity. She was always researching and took great pride in discovering a more holistic approach for her family’s health. Angie was a talented writer and contributed much of the editing of her father’s books, one of which was dedicated to her. She was a true light who radiated positivity and had a gift of bringing people together. Angie was a free-spirit and loved people, words, languages and life. She will be deeply missed by all those who crossed her path.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Nasir; their two precious sons: Ayub and Eysa Khan; her parents: Cindy Halstead of Marshalltown and Steven (Doris) Ames of Marshalltown; sister Kati (Adam) Dingman of Albion; step-siblings: Ken Halstead Jr., Diana Gallardo, Dina Gallardo, Byron Gallardo and Misael Gallardo; her nieces and nephew: Victoria, Kayla and Alexander Dingman; aunts and uncles: Joyce Webster, Kevin (Elizabeth) Collins, Joanna (Mike) Kendall, Jean (Richard) Henry, Robert (Linda) Ames and Patricia Ames Klosterman; numerous cousins and other extended family and many friends around the world.

Angie is preceded in death by her grandparents Richard and Helen Ames and Alvah and Bonnie Collins, her stepfather Kenneth Halstead Sr., uncle Buddy Webster, aunt Eileen Albertson and cousin Matthew Webster.
