Angela Kay Ervin

Angela Kay Ervin, 58, of LeGrand, Iowa, passed away at home on Monday, October 6, 2014. There will be a private service for Angela on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Angie and her family. Angela Kay Matthias was born on December 7, 1955, in Monticello, Iowa to parents, Alden and Berdena (Moeller) Matthias. Shortly after birth, the family moved to Garwin, Iowa, where Angie attended both elementary and high school. She was active in 4H and high school basketball. During one school break, she worked as a summer girl for a family in the Chicago area. After high school, Angie attended both MCC and the University of Iowa for a short time. She was then employed as a surgical technician at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. On May 16, 1981, she married Richard Martin Ervin at Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook, Iowa. In Sept of 1985, she stopped working at MMSC to be an at home mom. In 2009, Angie returned to work at MMSC carting patients and then was the clerical support for the outpatient surgery unit. In January of this year, she again left MMSC. During all this time she was also very active in the family business in LeGrand. She was originally confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook and currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon. During her younger years, she enjoyed skiing trips and bowling. More recently, Angie enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and weekly outings with her LeGrand friends. Playing the piano and organ was her hobby since youth Left to cherish Angelas memory are her husband, Rick Ervin; son, Matthew J. Ervin of Marion, Iowa; daughter, Danielle K. Ervin of Silverton, Oregon; and brother Dennis (Patty) Matthias of Woodbury, Minnesota. Angela was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tim Matthias.
