The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Anita and her family. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on June 19, 1962, in Marshalltown, she was the only child born to Charles Chuck and Donna (Rash) Gummert. She graduated from the LDF High School in LeGrand and later attended classes at the Marshalltown Community College. Anita was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Marshalltown. She was currently employed with the Animal Rescue League and previously in the security field as well as being an artist. She was passionate about her occupation since she dearly loved animals and was able to transfer the beauty of things in life onto canvas through her brushstrokes. She also enjoyed fishing, but being the gentle person she was, always released Gods creatures back to the wild. She always watched carefully where she walked so as to not step on any living thing. Left to cherish her memory is her spouse Julie Banzhaf. She and Julie were united in marriage on June 30, 2011, at the First United Church of Christ in Marshalltown. They were to celebrate 10 years of their Union Ceremony that was conducted by Julies father, Rev. Richard Banzhaf on June 30th, 2002. Also surviving are her parents Chuck and Donna Gummert, aunts/uncles: Shirley Gummert of Marshalltown, Cheryl (Larry) Murphy of Marshalltown, Linda (Jim) Studts of Arkansas, Eddie (Kris) Rash of Kansas, numerous cousins and a host of friends as well as her cats, Tigger and Sable. In death, Anita rejoined her grandparents- Tom and Helen Gummert and Mary and Wade Rash and aunt/uncle Leann and Larry Hatton.
