Anna Gross

Anna Caroline Fricke Gross, 101 years, 11 months old of State Center, Iowa entered into eternal life on October 22, 2007 at the State Center Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Anna was born to William H. Fricke and Annie Renton Fricke on November 12, 1905 on a farm near State Center, Iowa. She graduated from State Center High School in 1923 and married George Gross in Eldora, Iowa, February 28, 1925. Two daughters survive her, Myrna Shaffar (Don) of State Center, Iowa, and Marlys (Lyle) Larson of Edina, Minnesota, eight grandchildren and seven great-grand children. Anna with her husband George operated the Gross Dairy and Sandwich Shop in State Center for 20 years. They also sold sweet corn and berries from their property and raised chickens in the spring each year. Anna was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, and Young Womens Club. Anna was especially thrilled with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spoiled them with her unconditional love and Cinnamon Rolls. Anna was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents and two brothers Renton Fricke and Christian Fricke and one sister Alice Fricke Frandsen. Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2007 at State Center. There will be a visitation on Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the West Marshall Mitchell Family Funeral home in State Center and one hour before the funeral at the church.
