Anna May (Ann) Malfeld (nee Niedermann) died on Friday, October 16, 2009 in St Paul, Minnesota at Lyngblomsten Care Center at the age of 90.Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, Iowa. For condolences please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family funeral Home is caring for Ann and her family. Phone 641-844-1234.Anna May was born on August 1, 1919 in Marshall County, Iowa to Bessie Bridges Niedermann and Claus Conrad Niedermann. On August 20, 1940 she married Donald Malfeld of Van Cleve, Iowa and they remained married until Dons death in 1995. They farmed for many years in the Van Cleve area before moving to Marshalltown in 1971 where Ann worked for Marshalltown Manufacturing Company. Ann was an avid gardner, seamstress, traveler and reader who took up oil painting at the age of 86. She became known as the flower lady in her St. Paul retirement residences because of her beautiful flower arrangements. While living in Marshalltown, she was a volunteer for Iowa River Hospice.Ann is survived by her children, Janice Becker of Iowa City, Iowa; Gary Malfeld and wife Mariela of Miami, Florida; Sue Strand and husband Tim of San Jose, California; Sheryl Lynn Malfeld and husband Nick Brubaker of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Diane Malfeld and husband Craig Currie of St. Paul, Minnesota. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Mathew Strand of San Jose, California; Mariela Malfeld of Miami, Florida; Kathryn Malfeld Currie and husband Erik Levy of St. Paul, Minnesota; Andrea Malfeld Brubaker of St. Paul, Minnesota and Julia Malfeld Currie of St. Paul, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Homer and Wilford (Bill) Niedermann and her son-in-law George Becker.
