Annabelle Ione Gannon, 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Grandview Heights and Rehab in Marshalltown. A visitation will be on Thursday, November 17, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. The family will have a private committal service. Annabelle Ione Allen was born on August 8, 1931 in Belle Plaine, Iowa; the daughter of Oscar and Ruth (Rayner) Allen. She attended School in the Belle Plaine Community School District. On June 23, 1950 Annabelle was united in marriage to Merle O. Gannon in Omaha, Nebraska and they lived in Marshalltown. Annabelle worked in the Marshalltown School Food Service for over 30 years. She managed the cafeteria at Miller, Anson and MHS at various times during her career. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and Evening Circle at the Methodist Church. She loved going to the Senior Citizens Center and playing cards. Annabelle was a great cook with recipes to feed a thousand kids a day at the High School. She baked pies for Strand Bakery. She enjoyed telling jokes and stories to friends. She made friends easily and often. She enjoyed playing many card games but loved playing Bridge. She adored and loved her family from her siblings to her children to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Delanna (James) Gradwell of Marshalltown, Steve (Patricia) Gannon of Cedar Rapids, James Gannon of Marshalltown, and Penny (Jeff) Hill of Adel; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one more on the way, and three great-great-grandchildren.. In death Annabelle rejoins her parents, Oscar and Ruth Allen; husband, Merle; and siblings, Alvera Jansen, Orpha Allers, Delos Allen, Elaine Stevens, John Allen, and Bonnie Gompert.
