Annette M. Carl, 70, of Marshalltown, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, August 15, 2022. Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 19 at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. She will be laid to rest at Center School Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 1:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Born Annette Marie King on January 18, 1952, in Mason City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Samuel and Signa (Anderson) King. Annette grew up in Mason City and Garner, IA. She lived with her beloved Uncle Lawrence and Aunt Ebba Barlow in Mason City when she was not with her parents. She graduated from Garner High School in 1971. On December 31, 1975, Annette was united in marriage to Nicholas Carl. They were blessed with four daughters and spent their entire marriage in Marshalltown. Annette was a devoted stay-at-home mother. She was the neighborhood mom and wasn’t afraid to be caught outside playing kickball with all of the kids or having soup cookoffs with the neighborhood women. Annette was also a CNA for a couple of years with Marshalltown Manor and a housekeeper at the Iowa Veterans Home but her life was devoted to her husband, her daughters and her grandchildren. Annette was a catholic but was interested in many different religions and became a member of Fellowship Baptist Church later in life, driving the youth van on Wednesday evenings. Annette was also an animal lover and saved many dogs and cats through her life, notably her dogs Bandit, Lassie, Shadow, Nickel, Maggie, Charlie, and Shay, and her Persian cat Romeo and ragdoll cat Blue. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Nicole (Michael) Bond, of Ames, Stephanie Roberts of Marshalltown, Catherine ‘Katie’ Navarro of Tama, and Stacey (Bryan Hebert) Carl of Marshalltown, as well as her bonus daughter Mistry (Jason) Maxwell of Marshalltown; a brother Clayton (Diane) King, of Mason City and a sister Bonnie of California; her beloved grandchildren Jolene (Dakota), Daniel, Donicio ‘Dion’ (Sierra), Samantha, Christopher, Josephine, Faith, and Brayden, her bonus grandchildren,; and her extended family and friends. Annette is preceded in death by her father Samuel, her mother Signa, her beloved Uncle Lawrence and Aunt Ebba, her beloved brother Jerry, her sister Patricia, and her Uncle Steve.
