Annie Mary (Fluharty) Ethington, 80, of Marshalltown, died early Wednesday morning, August 10, at the Iowa River Hospice House while in the care of their staff and her loving family.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 15th, at the Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Herschberger officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Ph. 641-844-1234.Annie Mary Fluharty was born on July 13, 1931, in Clutier, Iowa, she was the daughter of Albert Melvin and Ethel (Kistler) Fluharty. She received her education in the Clutier schools through 8th grade, she moved to Garwin and graduated from Garwin High School in 1949.On Valentines Day (February 14) 1951, she was united in marriage to Charles Robert Ethington in State Center at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. They made their home in Marshalltown where she was a homemaker and later worked in the catalog department at J.C. Penney for 23 years. Annie was an active member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church and did volunteer work in the community through the church and MMSC.Left to cherish her memory is Charles, her loving husband of 60 years and her children: Thomas James (Lonnie) Ethington of Marshalltown, Stanley Ray (Lynn) Ethington of Des Moines, Catherine Jo (Raymond) Schwichtenberg of Nevada, and Valerie Lynn (Richard) Vajgrt Bellile of Marshalltown. In addition to their four children, Annie and Charles have nine grandchildren; Megan, Joel, Emily, Charlie, Jamie, Angela, Kelli, Anna and Haley as well as seven great-grandchildren. She was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Arthur, Dave, George, Jim, Ray, Bob, Grace Drinovsky and Amy Swacker.
