Antoni “Anthony” Polkiewicz, 77, of Melbourne, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at his home and under the care of Suncrest Hospice.
Funeral services for Anthony will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with the burial to follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 27 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Antoni Polkiewicz was born on July 5, 1947 in Bad Rothenfelke, Germany. He was the son of Walter and Maria (Figi) Polkiewicz. Anthony graduated from South High in Pueblo, Colorado where he played basketball and track. On December 24, 1966, Anthony was united in marriage to Elisabeth Ann “Liz” Borton in Pueblo, Colorado. Anthony served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1971, where he was stationed on the USS Bordelon. Anthony was a jack of all trades; he had been employed as a postal carrier, electrician, worked in sales at Meskwaki Casino and was an over the road truck driver.
Anthony was a member of the VFW Post 839 in Marshalltown and the American Legion Post #46. He was also a member of the South High School Alumni in Pueblo, Colorado. Anthony enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and going camping. Above all else, Anthony cherished the time with his grandchildren.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 58 years, Liz; children: Mary (Todd Richmond) Polkiewicz of Melbourne, A.J. (Casey Sirdoreus) Polkiewicz of Melbourne and Erica (Scott Krull) Bennett of Ames. Grandchildren: Johnathan Albe, Austin Polkiewicz, Brittany Polkiewicz, Dimitri Catron, Kamryn Bennett, Bre Flater, Nathaniel Bennett and Adrianna Bennett. He is also survived by his siblings: Christina (Cliff) Smart of Greeley, Colorado, Peter Polkiewicz of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Walter (Tasha) Polkiewicz of Commerce City, Colorado and John (Geri) Polkiewicz of Pennsylvania along with his sister-in-law: Chelle Polkiewicz of Pueblo, Colorado.
Anthony is preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Maria and his brother: Joe Polkiewicz.
