Ardyce L. Smith, 84, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown.


Funeral services for Ardyce will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will start prior to the service; beginning at 9:30 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Ardyce Kile was born on November 14, 1939 in Newton, Iowa. She was the daughter to Ernest and Leona (Bowans) Kile. She graduated from Newton High School in 1957. On November 14, 1958, Ardyce was united in marriage to Bob Smith in Newton. Together, Ardyce and Bob called Newton home from 1958 until 1970. They also lived in Coralville, moved to Marshalltown in 1976 and then to North Liberty in 1983 before calling Marshalltown home again in 2012. In her younger years, Ardyce worked as a secretary for the First Baptist Church in Newton and later as a secretary at ACT in North Liberty. Ardyce enjoyed doing crafts and was a demonstrator for “Stampin’ Up!” for years and liked to go shopping and attend antique shows with Bob. Ardyce and Bob also enjoyed traveling together to see their grandchildren’s sporting events. They went to see Tyler play in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in the Little League World Series, Ryan play in Omaha, Nebraska at the CABA World Series and Renee play soccer and volleyball in Round Rock, Texas. In her later years, Ardyce enjoyed the time visiting with her family to talk about and look at the photos of her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities.


Ardyce is survived by her children: Cindy (Brian) Davis of Marshalltown and Mark (Marcia) Smith of Round Rock, Texas. Grandchildren: Tyler (Carly) Davis of Conrad, Renee (Richard) Hendrick of Franklin, Tennessee and Ryan (Jamie) Smith of Pflugerville, Texas. Great-grandchildren: Tatum Ridout, Kennedy Davis, Camryn Hendrick, Jackson Hendrick, Collin Longoria and Carter Smith along with numerous nieces and nephews.


Ardyce is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents: Ernest and Leona and siblings: Eunice Rexroat, JoAnn Miller, Wilma and Marcella.


The family would like to express their gratitude to Southridge Specialty Care and Care Initiatives Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Ardyce.
