Arlene Engle

Arlene Erma Cory Engle passed away quietly and peacefully at her home in Conrad on Sunday, November 27 having just celebrated her 89th birthday on Friday.Visitation will be at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Marshalltown on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 5 to 7 pm. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Dec. 2 at 1:30 pm at the Liscomb Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Conrad Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. She attended rural school, then graduated from Clemons High School in 1940. On December 15, 1940 she and Ralph (Bud) Engle Jr. were married and she began her career as a farm wife. She loved to be outdoors, whether driving a tractor or picking up sticks. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who all have fond memories of her homemade buns and honey and ice cream cones. She was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ and the Liscomb Hobby Club.In addition to one sister, Evelyn Sparks of Nevada, Arlene leaves a legacy of two children, Gary (Dian) Engle of rural Marshalltown, Julie (John) McNair of rural Conrad, a daughter-in-law Sandy Engle of Conrad, twelve grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was proceeded in death by her husband, one son Ron, one daughter Linda, one great grandson, one great great granddaughter and one brother Howard Cory
