Arlene Lois Jacobi was born on December 2, 1938, on a farm near Belle Plaine, Iowa to Mitchell and Louise (Beck) Jacobi. Arlene was the second born to a family of 10: Darlene, Arlene, Kathryn, Rose, Janet, Bonnie, Judy, Michele, Leslie and Russell Jacobi. She grew up and attended school in Belle Plaine.

Arlene and Bill Haloupek were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Bill worked for the railroad and Arlene later worked at Taylor’s Maid Rite as a waitress and later retired from Kiowa in 2001.

Children of the couple are Kathy Haloupek and Kimberly (Art Taft) Haloupek. Her deepest joys were her grandchildren, Tracy Pieters and Austin (Kris) Richardson who filled her house with great-grandchildren: Maddux and Justice Richardson and Brock (Addie) and Lincoln Pieters, followed by her great-great grandchildren, Tate and Tucker Pieters.

Arlene’s fondest memories were the farms where she climbed the fences to attend country school carrying her lunch in a Karo syrup bucket. Lastly, the farm that she learned to milk cows that required kickers, separating the cream from the milk, and keeping the equipment clean. Reunions were found reminiscing over uncles that helped with harvest, the two horses, and the banty rooster that terrorized her and her siblings. Arlene became a genealogy enthusiast after acquiring her mother’s materials, filling many three ring binders and shelving units. Among these memories, Arlene enjoyed being outdoors with the grandchildren, great-grandchildren attending their many activities or playing catch, setting up the pool or chasing frogs or bunnies in her backyard. She also enjoyed cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. There would be many times that Arlene would call Brock to ask him questions about what the calls meant or why that player wasn't called out!!

Arlene will be missed by her immediate family, many siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.

In her passing, she rejoins her parents and sisters, Darlene and Kathryn.
