Arlene Olsen, 92, of Bickford Cottage of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015, with family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Arlene and her family. Phone 641-844-1234. Arlene Riemenschneider was born on January 16, 1922, in State Center Township in Marshall County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Lela (Green) Riemenschneider, she attended school in the St. Anthony Community School District and then went on to AIB Business School in Des Moines, Iowa. Arlene lived most of her life in Marshalltown and Marshall County. On June 10, 1949, Arlene was united in marriage to Charles Ray Olsen at the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. She was a receptionist at Marshalltown Medical Clinic for 34 years. Arlene was a member of Central Christian Church and the TTT organization for many years. She loved her lake home on Lake of the Woods in Ontario, Canada. She also enjoyed traveling and interacting with the Six Pack (a group of friends) and playing in several bridge groups in Marshalltown. Arlene moved to the Embers in Marshalltown in 2009, and then to Bickford in Overland Park, Kansas, 2012. Left to cherish Arelene's memory are her children: Linda (Kirk) Woosley of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Craig (Sheri) Olsen of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren: Brett (Jennifer) Hotz of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Mackenzie (Mike) Mesher of Maple Grove, Minnesota. Great-grandchildren: Hannah and Sabin Eubanks, and Jordan and Brooklyn Hotz of Colorado Springs, Colorado. In death, Arlene rejoins her parents, Lawrence and Lela; husband, Charles; brother, John Riemenschneider; and sisters, Doris Kunc and Elaine Carlson.
