Arlene Kae Severidt passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. She was born Dec 25, 1943. After graduating from Green Mountain High School in 1961, she attended AIB College in Des Moines. Arlene worked for the Marshalltown Trowel Company, where she became the private secretary to the president, Larry McCumber and later became the office manager. She was employed there for almost 25 years.
Arlene lived most of her life on what came to be called Zeller Avenue. The farm home in which she grew up and her future home were only a half mile apart. Farming and her horses were her greatest joy and love. She started driving a tractor at age 11.
Preceding her in death is her mother, Avonelle Ferguson Serveridt (who died 55 years earlier, to the day), her dad, Harold Severidt (originally from State Center, Iowa) and her brother-in-law, Bruce Harland.
Arlene is survived by her sister Bonita Harland, currently residing in Beit-Zera, Israel; niece Amanda Harland (Kevin) Lovig of Des Moines, IA, nephew Travis (Lis) Harland of Overland Park, KS, nephew Ethan (Ashley) Harland of Winterset, IA; 11 great-nieces and nephews: Whitley Lovig (Andrew) Davidson, Hannah Lovig, Eric Idy, Stella Forster, Eli Harland, Leo Harland, Ahnika Harland, Claire Harland, Josiah Harland, Emilia Harland, Vivian Harland; and 2 great-great nephews: Jacob Davidson and William Davidson. She is also survived by many cousins and one aunt, Eloise Severidt.
Private services will be held at a later date. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements of Arlene and her family.
