Arlene Stovall, 95, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 5, 2021 at the Iowa Veteran’s Home. At this time private family services for Arlene will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. A family led celebration of life will be held at a later date. To view the funeral service, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/Mitchell-Family-Funeral-Home-99280714047/ Arlene Evelyn Newton was born May 9, 1925, to parents Verle and Blanche (Russie) Newton in Green Mountain, Iowa. She was the oldest of two children. She attended school in the area. She was united in marriage to her husband Wrennie “Gerald” Shaver. From this union they were blessed with four children which they raised together. They called Marshalltown home for many years before moving to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to help on the family farm with the livestock. The two later divorced and she was united in marriage to the love of her life Joseph Stovall. She worked in various housekeeping occupations one including the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. The two celebrated many happy years until Joe’s passing. In her free time, Arlene was very active in her church serving on various committees, church charities, and attending. She loved her various fishing trips with Joe, loved to lend a helping hand to those in need and cared for anyone that she met. She didn’t know a stranger. Left to remember and cherish her memory are her children Barbara Foster and Allen (Trissa) Shaver; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands Gerald Shaver and Joe Stovall; her sons, Robert Douglas and Donald Leland Shaver; her brother Darwin Newton; and son-in-law Larry Foster.
