Arleta E. Peters, 83, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Villa Del Sol Nursing Home in Marshalltown. Friends and family are invited to meet at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens where Arleta will be laid to rest. Following the interment rites, there will be a funeral service for Arleta at 10:30 a.m., at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., where her family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Arleta Elaine McDonald was born on August 27, 1930, in Alden, Iowa to John and Lena Tjarks McDonald. On April 5, 1950, Arleta was united in marriage to Loren Peters in The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Arleta had worked for Lennox in the print shop as well at Iowa Valley Community College District. Arletas memberships included being a Cub Scout leader, president of the PTA, brownie leader, many different card clubs, Grace United Methodist and Hope United Methodist. But above all else she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arleta loved attending school programs, sporting events, and anything that involved the children. Left to cherish her memory is her children: Larry (Pat) Peters, and Lorna (Steve) Finch; grandchildren: Loren (Jenessa) Peters, Lindsey (Aaron) Grimm, Josh (Emily) Finch, Stacy Finch, Travis (Erica) Finch; great-grandchildren: Autumn Finch, Payton Peters, Kyle Finch, Ashleigh Finch, Stevi Anne Finch, Claire Finch, Keegan Finch; sisters: Darlene (Leonard) Peters and Mary Lou Risius, and sister in law Jacque McDonald. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Loren, who passed away three weeks ago to the day of Arletas passing; parents; four brothers and four sisters.
