Arthur Art Prescott, 91, of Marshalltown died Sunday May 30th, 2010 at the Iowa Veterans Home, with his loving wife at his side. A celebration of Arts life will be held at 2pm on Thursday, June 3rd at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1pm on Thursday as well. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Veterans Home and the Marshall County Senior Citizens Center. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Art and his family, phone 641-844-1234. Art was born in Conrad on June 17th, 1918 to parents Fred and Mary (Vanderford) Prescott. Art attended school in Conrad, graduating in 1935. Art then went to Barbers school in Cedar Rapids. On January 1st, 1942 Art was united in marriage to Vivian Thornblade at the State Street Evangelical Church in Marshalltown. In June of 1942 Art was called to duty in the United States Army Air Corps. He served in the 303rd Service Squadron until September of 1945. Upon his return from the war, Art worked at McGregors until 1953, when he began working at Marshall Office Supply until his retirement in 1980. Art was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 46 and the B.P.O.E. #312. He enjoyed golfing, cherished traveling with his beloved wife Vivian, especially after retirement when they enjoyed nearly 20 years of spending their winters in Arizona, and his 25 years of attending the 303rd Service Squadron reunions. Art will be greatly missed by all who knew and continue to love him. Left to celebrate Arts life is his loving wife of 68 years, Vivian; six nephews and three nieces, as well as many friends. In death, Art has rejoined his parents; two brothers; three sisters; one niece; and four nephews.
