Arthur L. Pruitt, 68, of Albion, died Saturday, November 28, 2009, at his home while in the care of his family and Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009, at Marshalltown Church of Christ, 2205 South Center Street. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Marshalltown Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 4:30-6:30 P.M. on Wednesday at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Arthur Leon Pruitt was born on June 24, 1941, in Maryville, Missouri. He was the son of Donald and Edna (Perry) Pruitt. Art went to school in Marshalltown and completed his education in the military through the college of the Air Force. Art served our country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1959-1979. On June 23, 1961, Art married Karen Sue Ecklor in Marshalltown. The couple had lived in Eldora for 30 years prior to moving to Albion in 2007. Art worked as a paperboy, waste engineer, truck driver, baker, worked at Culligan, Swift and Company, co-owned A & K Upholstery with his wife, Karen, and enjoyed working for farmers. He was a member of Marshalltown Church of Christ, American Legion, NRA, NAHC, and AARP. He enjoyed his family, guns, hunting and fishing, the outdoors, camping, and being active in the Lords work. Art will be missed by his wife, Karen, of Albion; his children, Jerrie(David) Haffner of Nashville, TN, Hope(Peter) Varney of Bellevue, Nebraska, Arthur(Staci) Pruitt II of Marshalltown, and Nathaniel(Kristalinn) Pruitt of Marshalltown; his foster son/ nephew, Doug Ecklor of Marshalltown; his 17 grandchildren; his 9 great-grandchildren; his step-mother Peggy Pruitt; his sister, Vera Kelly of Maryville, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and foster children. In death, he has rejoined his father, Don; his mother, Edna; and his sisters, Lois Jean Marks and Donna Mae Pruitt.
