Arthur LeRoy Schoenhut, 83, of Marshalltown, ended his battle with lung cancer on December 25, 2009, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31st, 2009, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Ph 641-844-1234. Art was born on January 24, 1926, at Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown to Karl and Mary Katherine (Price) Schoenhut. He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown area, graduating from Laurel High School in 1944. On December 20, 1948, Art married Clyta Elaine Moody in Nebraska. They later divorced. Art worked for various manufacturing and construction companies in Marshalltown. He also drove for Boss Truck Lines. In April of 1964, he went to work for Lennox, retiring from there in February of 1988. Art enjoyed collecting stamps and playing cribbage. Art is survived by three children, Terry (Peggy) Schoenhut of Toledo, IA, Kathryn Schoborg of Grinnell, IA, and Cheryl (Kelvin) House of Marshalltown; his 13 grandchildren; his 16 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Helen Pawneshing of Lakewood, California. He was preceded in death by his father Karl, his mother and stepfather, Mary and Mac McBroom, his former wife Clyta, his two sons, Jack and William Bill, his infant daughter Sharon Marie, and his little dog, Chevis.The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Lyons, Dr. Merchant, Dr. Rhoades, and to all of the staff at Iowa River Hospice for the care that was given to Art during his illness.
