Arthur Red Shore, 87, of Marshalltown, formerly of Albion, died Friday, May 11, at the Grandview Heights. Reds family wishes to thank all of the girls at Grandview Heights for the exceptional loving care and comfort and to the Iowa River Hospice for their love and support and seeing to the needs of his family at this time. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kerry Jech of the New Hope Christian Church officiating. With respect to his memory, please come to the service in casual attire. He will be laid to rest in the Bethel Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. (Red) Shore was born on December 27, 1924, in Hardin County, Iowa, to Calvin R. and Cora L. (Motsinger) Shore. He was married on June 27, 1948, to Marilynn J. Wiley. They made their home in Albion until her death in 1980. He married Betty L. Beane on March 4, 1982, and they continued to reside in Albion until their move to Marshalltown in 2001. He was a farmer in the Albion area, worked for Coca-Cola, Bordens, Fisher Controls and the Marshall County Highway Department for 16 years. He served our country honorably in the United States Army from 1944-1946. He was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Albion and loved farming, fishing, traveling, and most of all visiting with friends. His favorite song and the way he lived his life is One Day at a Time. Left to celebrate his life are his wife, Betty, son Paul L. Shore of Liscomb, daughter Lynnece K. (James) Matherly of Marshalltown, step-daughter Susan R. McLaughlin of Onawa, Iowa, grandsons- Travis (Marcie) Bittner of Albion, Rusty L. (Ashley) Shore of Ankeny, granddaughter- Nicole M. (Dave) Cruzan of Wellsburg, step-grandchildren Jennifer, Tim and Jacob McLaughlin all of Onawa, three great-grandchildren- Bailey Ann and Bryce Cruzan of Wellsburg and Garrett Shore of Ankeny, brother Oscar Gene Shore and sisters Martha (Lowell) Keeler and Virginia A. (Charles) Sloat of all Marshalltown, sister-in-law Mary Jeanne Shore of Marshalltown and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his wife Marilynn J. Shore, parents Calvin and Cora, brother Bill Shore, grandparents and many other loved ones.
