Ashley Nicole Jacobs Alanis

The beautiful spirit of Ashley Nicole Jacobs Alanis, 34, of Colfax, that so bravely fought Cystic Fibrosis since her birth, left this earthly life on June 27th, with her family at her side at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. To the very end, she never, never gave up.           Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 6th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Ph. 641-844-1234.           Born on February 25th, 1984, in Texas, she was the daughter of Kelly Karns and Teresa Jacobs.  Her mother later married Larry Bailey and he became a big part of her life as her step-dad. She attended school in Colfax, Bondurant and graduated from Southeast Polk. She had completed several hours of nurses training when her health declined. Even with issues of Cystic Fibrosis, she never let it affect her full-time ability of being a mom. She treasured her time with friends and family, especially go-kart race night at Newton. She loved 80’s music (especially Tesla), cars, working in daycare and being with the love of her life, Gavino. Even though they were together for ten years, actually meeting at age 14, they were married on Monday, June 25th, in the hospital with numerous family witnessing.           Left to cherish her memory are Gavino, her husband, three children- Dylan, Drake and Londyn; her mother Teresa of Colfax; brothers Brandon Jacobs of Colfax and Quentin Bailey of Des Moines, grandmothers- Marilyn Jacobs in Michigan and Shirley Karns of Marshalltown, mother-in-law Nancy Woods, father-in-law Gavino Alanis, sisters-in-law Annette, Paula, Maria and Dora and her pets (dogs)-Izzy, Tipsy, Brock and Zoey the garage cat as well as numerous other family and friends.           In death, she rejoined her father and grandfathers.
