Ashton Hanniford, 74, of the Iowa Veterans Home, passed away in their care on Friday, February 3rd. A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Ashton and his family. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on August 16th, 1942, in Kingstree, SC, he was the son of John Henry Bub and Gladys (Fegin) Hanniford. He received his education in the area of his birth. Mr. Hanniford served our country honorably in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. He was employed in the iron working industry and did some farming as well. Left to cherish his memory are his sons: Michael of Altoona and Patrick of Dubuque. In death, he has rejoined his parents.
