Barbara Boeyink

Barbara Boeyink, 80, of Marshalltown, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of May 29, 2022 at Accura Healthcare of Marshalltown and under the care of Iowa River Hospice. At this time cremation rites have been accorded and family led services are planned for later this summer. Memorials in Barbara’s name may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown. Barbara Jo Newendorp was born on July 29, 1941 to parents Vernon and Margaret (Dykstra) Newendorp in Orange City, Iowa. She grew up in the area of Orange City and Alton, Iowa where she attended school. She graduated from Alton High School in 1959. Barbara furthered her education and attended Nettleton Business Training College where she achieved her business degree. On January 6, 1962, Barbara was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert Louis Boeyink in Alton, Iowa. Together they moved to Marshalltown, Iowa and began a family of their own raising their three sons, Jeffrey, Gregory, and Andrew. While often quiet and stoic, she was the absolute rock of her family and constantly made personal sacrifices to ensure that her sons had what they needed to succeed in life. Many of those sacrifices were not revealed to her children until much later in life and for which they are forever grateful. Barbara worked for many years leading Evans Abstract Company in Marshalltown as an Abstractor. Additionally, she and Robert attended and actively participated at First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed bowling, working on quilt projects, playing 500, crocheting blankets for her home as well as gifts for her extended family, reading countless books, working through crosswords, and generally spoiling her grandchildren. She loved following the Hawkeyes, the Cubs, and the Vikings. Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Robert Boeyink; her children, Jeffrey (Janet) Boeyink, Gregory (Maureen) Boeyink, and Andrew (Jennifer) Boeyink; her grandchildren, Alissa Long, James Boeyink, Nick Boeyink, Emily Boeyink, Julia Boeyink, Kathleen Boeyink, Zachary Boeyink, Noah Boeyink, Susanna Boeyink, and Lucas Boeyink; her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Charlotte Long; her siblings, Janet (Gene) Taylor and David (Debra) Newendorp; alongside numerous extended family members. She is rejoined in eternal life with her parents, Vernon and Margaret Newendorp and her siblings, Donna Lansman, Jim Newendorp, and Judi Armstrong.
