Barbara Jo Drummer

Barbara Jo Drummer (Spencer), 69, of Marshalltown passed away on December 20, 2016 at the Iowa River Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. A public visitation will be held on Friday December 23, 2016 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 9 until 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service following at Riverside Cemetery. According to Barbaras wishes the family has requested to come in casual clothing. Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at a later date. Barbara Jo Spencer was born on October 11, 1947 to the parents of Lawrence Wayne Blackie and Lola Clara (Seffinga) Spencer in Marshalltown, Iowa. Barbara attended the Marshalltown School System and graduated with the class of 1965. On October 16, 1965 she was united in marriage to Dick Drummer at Saint Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Barbara was an avid animal lover but she had a soft spot for dogs, she was a dog groomer and obedience trainer for many years. In Barbaras free time she helped trained countless dogs to help guide the blind and touched countless lives with her kindness. Left to cherish Barbaras memory are her children, Richard Wayne (Becky) Drummer, Rod (Chris) Drummer, and Mary McDonald, grandchildren Amanda, Matthew, Jessica, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Jackson, Cortney, Richard, and Katlyn, and sisters Judy and Susan. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Dick, parents, Lawrence and Lola, sisters Sandra and Francis Mae, and brother-in-law Gean.
