Barbara Jean Shelton

Barbara Jean Shelton, aged 88, passed away Thursday morning, May 6, 2021 at Southridge Specialty Care Center. Cremation rites have been accorded, and there are no services planned at this time.  Barbara was born to Jesse Edmund Mitchell and Lillian Rae (Barker) Mitchell on March 31, 1933.  She attended Abbott School and later attended high school in Marshalltown.  She married Cecil Herbert Hilleman and moved to Van Cleve, Iowa where they raised three children before moving back to Marshalltown. Barbara later married Kerrol Earnest Shelton; Barbara and Kerrol made their home in Waterville, Mn and Belton, Tx.  Barbara worked at Days Lanes, True Value and owner of Bus Depot Cafe. She enjoyed camping and working in various KOA campgrounds. She never met a stranger and was always ready for family card games.  She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Buffington (Jerry Bonnette) of Harlingen, Tx and Roberta Thompson (Robert), Glenhaven, Ca; her grandson, Jim Buffington; her great-grandsons, Christopher  Buffington (Darci) and Aaron Buffington; and 5 great-great grandchildren.  Barbara is rejoined in heaven with her parents; her brother, Larry Mitchell; her son, Michael Lee Hilleman; and both loves of her life. Barbara’s obituary was lovingly written by her family.
