Barbara Spencer, 66, of Gilman passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011. A Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. before the service. A private family burial will take place at a later date. A memorial fund in her name has been established at the Citizens Savings Bank (110 West Southridge Road, Marshalltown, IA 50158). Barbara Jean Margot was born September 5, 1945 in Santa Monica, CA; she was the daughter of Frank and Beatrice (Pennock) Margot. She attended high school in the Santa Monica area. She then later made her home in Gilman, IA but her love for the California Ocean and the beach still remained. She loved talking on the phone with family and spending time with her family as well. She enjoyed her oldies music, but she had the most recent interest with the singer Usher. She will be remembered by always helping everyone first and putting herself last. She is survived by her five children: Jimmy (Erin) Spencer of Gilman, IA, Jeff Spencer of Phoenix, AZ, Ricky Spencer of Carson City, NV, Veronica (Justin) Brown of Kellogg, IA, and John (Sarah Lewis) Jorquez of Gilman, IA; her grandchildren: lil Justin, Jaelin, Jeremy, Jackie, Nadya, Desiree, Kasadi Lewis, and Parker Lewis; Her sister, Debbie Mendoza of Riverside, CA.She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Lola, and Steven Spencer
