Barbara JoAnne Zednichek, age 80, passed away peacefully on March 15 at Accura Senior Living, in Marshalltown.
She was born February 14, 1946 to Floyd and Rose (Pelcman) Zednichek. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin. She attended and graduated from Pleasant Hill Schools. Barb went on to work at Mid-Iowa Workshops for 40 years where she did a variety of tasks and was always known for her work ethic. She enjoyed traveling with her family. Barb enjoyed simple pleasures in life, playing Bingo, going bowling, and eating out with relatives and friends. Barb will be remembered for her caring ways, always thinking of others by sending cards to celebrate the important moments of their lives and volunteering at the Iowa Veterans Soldiers Home where she helped with getting patients to their events. Barb was proud to participate in the Special Olympics where she earned ribbons for her participation. She will be remembered for the big smile on her face and her cheerful personality.
She is survived by her brother Dennis and Joan (Baily) Zednichek of Eden Prairie, MN and niece Denise (Wiley) Wilkinson, great nephews, Zach (Hannah) Wilkinson and Logan (Anna) Wilkinson and great-great nephew Saumuel Zed Wilkinson, and great-great niece Vivian Mae Wilkinson.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Barb touched are invited to Mitchell Family Funeral Home on Friday, April 17th. Visitation will be from 12-1 pm, with the service following at 1 pm. There will be a family private burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CIRSI or Mid Iowa Workshops.
Lovingly written by her family.
