Barry Ray Hutchens Sr

Barry Hutchens Sr., 64, of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.  Memorial services for Barry will be held on Monday, August 5th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held prior to the service, starting at 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to either the Marshalltown Dog Park, Iowa River Hospice, or to the family. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Barry and his family.  Barry Hutchens was born on June 29, 1955 in Marshalltown to Willard Neal and Marie Lewrena Hutchens. He attended Marshalltown High School and afterwards served in the United States Marine Corp. Barry spent many years as a truck driver as well as other jobs before becoming disabled in 2012. Barry first was united in marriage in 1973 to Deborah Walter and they had a son; Tim. Barry’s second marriage was to Katheryn Wooten on November 9, 1979 and they had Cassie, Barry Jr., Jennifer and Jenelle. They later divorced. Barry enjoyed fishing, being outdoors working on his home and yard, watching NASCAR with his brother, spending time with his grandchildren and most of all taking his beloved canine companion, Bear, to the Marshalltown Dog Park.  Barry is survived by his children: Tim Hutchens of Marshalltown, Cassie Hutchens of Charleston, South Carolina, Barry (Laura) Hutchens Jr. of Marshalltown, Jennifer (Joe) Smith of Gladbrook, and Jenelle (Daniel) Klavenga of Marshalltown as well as “Bear Too”, his fur baby. Barry is also survived by grandchildren: Tavis Reisdorf, Thomas Smith, Cameron Smith, Lukas Smith, Zachary Smith, Bailey Hutchens and Barry Hutchens III; mother Marie (Earl) Cronk of Marshalltown; siblings: Max Hutchens of Albion, Candy Hans of Rogers, Arkansas and Shawn Halverson of Atlanta, Georgia, as well as all of Barry’s human and canine friends from the Marshalltown Dog Park.  Barry is preceded in death by his father, Willard Hutchens, sister Melody Lynn, and his grandparents.
