Barry Lynch

Barry M. Lynch, age 76, of Marshalltown, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Iowa Veterans Home under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

Born on April 2, 1946, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Marvin and Betty (Berry) Lynch. His early years were spent in Green Mountain before the family moved to Marshalltown, where he graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1964. Shortly after, he was called to serve our country honorably in the Vietnam War. He was presented the Quilt of Valor just in August of this year.

Barry was united in marriage to Lynnette Diggins and the two were blessed with a son, James. Over the years, he worked several different jobs, including Montgomery Ward, Kiowa Manufacturing, Mid-Iowa Workshop and the recycling center.

He also enjoyed coaching his son in little league and Marshalltown Football League, as well as basketball for several years at Anson Junior High School. In his free time, Barry loved riding motorcycles, playing pool and drinking beer. He was an avid ISU fan and enjoyed watching college basketball.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, James, former wife Lynnette, his sister Deb Lynch, several cousins and friends and his faithful Chihuahua, Elwood.

In death, he rejoins his parents and brother, Gary Lynch.
