Bernard “Bernie” Dyke, age 74, of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, passed away Sunday morning, November 17, 2019, at the Iowa Veterans Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 21st at the Chapel of the Iowa Veterans Home. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until service time on Thursday. A memorial fund is being established. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Bernie’s family. Bernard Eugene Dyke was born on January 19, 1945, in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Joseph and Cleo Dyke. In July 1963, he was inducted into the United States Army and faithfully served our country until his honorable discharge in August of 1967. He had lived in Pleasantville, IA and Des Moines where he was employed in the transportation industry as a truck driver. Bernie’s hobbies were bowling, pinochle and bingo. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Carson; and a son, John Randels; three grandchildren: Zach Roth, Josh (Kendall) Roth and Cheyenne Randels; and other relatives.
