Bernice Johnson Price, 91 of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Iowa River Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday September 12, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. also at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed in Bernices name to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Bernice and her family. Phone 641-844-1234. Bernice Irene Hayden was born on April 17, 1922 to Theodore Morton Hayden and Mabel Reed Hayden near Creston, Iowa. Bernice received her degree in Elementary Education at Simpson College and Drake University and a degree in Library Science from University of Utah. On July 15, 1945, Bernice was united in marriage to Robert Henry Johnson. Robert (Bob) Johnson passed away in 1989. Bernice then married Clarence Price on October 12, 1990 at the Laurel United Methodist Church. She had taught school in Ellston, Laurel, Knoxville, Kellogg and Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Newton. Her avocations included travel, reading, and singing and lay speaking in churches. She was a member of the Laurel United Methodist Church, the Laurel Federated Study Club, Retired Teachers, the Mayflower Society and the Mid- Iowa Herford Association. Bernice is survived by her second husband of 22, years Clarence. Children: Jeanine Kae Drahota (Fianc, David Hurley) of La Quinta, California, Roger Hayden Johnson(Mary) Colorado Springs, Colorado, Julie Anne Francisco(Clint) of Laurel, Janet Patrick (Loyd) of Stephenville, Texas, Stanley Price(Glenda of Grapevine, Texas, Lou Ann Price from Atlantic, Iowa and Daniel Price(Linda) of Bloomington, Minnesota. She was also blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister-in-law Dolores Wisegerhof and brother-in-law, Harold Loynachan. Bernice is preceded in death by her first husband of 44 years, Robert, both parents, sister: Cleo Maley, Ruth DeGraw, and Esther Loynachan. Granddaughter, Kristyn Nicholle Drahota and granddaughter-in-law Sherry Drahota.
