Berniece Dolly Wykle, 95 of State Center, died Monday morning, May 2nd, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 6th, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center with Rev. Joan Swander officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home West Marshall Chapel in State Center. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-483-2900.Born Berniece Emmerette Varland on December 12th, 1915, at Radcliffe, Iowa, she was the daughter of Sam and Lillie (Buland) Varland. She received her education in the area of her birth.On November 5th, 1938, she was united in marriage to Carroll Wykle at Radcliffe. They made their home in Radcliffe until moving to Roland for one year and then to State Center in 1940, where she has resided ever since. Mrs. Wykle was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, the St. Paul Womens Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary. Berniece enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, cross-stich and embroidery and fishing in Minnesota and Canada.Left to cherish her memory are her children: Karen Peshel of State Center and Roger (Ginger) Wykle of Bloomington, MN, four grandchildren: Jim Witte, Scott Wykle, Chris Wykle, Cindy Cowan and adopted granddaughter Missy Jorgenson; and her great-grandchildren- Jake, Lora, Grant, Brock, Levi, Trevor, Bradley and Caleb.In death, Berniece rejoined her beloved Carroll, parents, daughter Barb Witte, grandson Jeff Witte, sister Avonelle Peterson and brother Alvin Varland.
