Bervol R. (Mrs. Bob) Walton, 79, of Toledo, died Sunday, August 2nd, at the Carrington Place in Toledo. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 5th, at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Toledo with Pastor Claire Hein officiating. Visitation will be held on the lower level of the church on Tuesday, August 4th, from 5-7:00 p.m. Giving in death as she did in life, she has gifted her body to the University of Iowa. Born Bervol Ruth Thompson on April 26th, 1930, in rural Chelsea, Iowa, she was one of seven children born to Charles and Nannie (Cusick) Thompson. She attended the rural schools (as the only one in her class for awhile) and graduated from the Grinnell High School in 1947. Bervol was a telephone billing clerk prior to her marriage. On December 6th, 1953- exactly one-year to the day of her first date with him- she was united in marriage to Bob Walton at the Methodist Church in Grinnell. They made Toledo their home all of their married life where she was a childcare provider for 24 years to over 300 children. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Toledo and the womens fellowship, past Sunday school teacher, Bowlerina League, and Square-dancer. She enjoyed gardening, children, teaching swimming, being den mother and campfire leader. Bervol was the first president along with Bob of the South Tama Count y Band Boosters and was a member of the Toledo Sparkettes. Left to cherish her memory is Bob, her loving husband of 55 years, three children: Larry (Barb) Walton of Milan, Michigan, Cindy (Erich) Noll of Kansas City, Paul (Susanne) Walton of Johnson City, TN, grandchildren Madison and Hope Noll, and several nieces and nephews. In death she has rejoined her parents and siblings: Ralph, Cecil, Dean and Marion Thompson and Leota Dee and Dorothy Davis.
