Betty Emmons

Betty Lettisha Emmons joined the host of Heavenly angels on October 27, 2016. Betty was born on April 25, 1926 to Hiram and Ruth (Dickey) Emmons near Molina, Missouri. Her schooling was in rural Missouri until she attended the University of Missouri ultimately receiving her teaching certificate in 1948. She taught in four Missouri locations before moving to Marshalltown to teach at St. Marys Catholic School. She worked many years for Kimberly Quality Care in Marshalltown before retiring. Betty was a member of DAR, The University Women, and a member of ADK for over 50 years. As a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown, she was a deacon, deacon chair, a Sunday school teacher and worked with many youth groups. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Ruth Emmons; a sister, Maud Alice Nevins and brother-in-law, Thomas Nevins; brothers, John Marvin Emmons and James Radford (Tim) Emmons. Betty is survived by one nephew, Stuart Thomas (Dietta) Nevins of Marshalltown and many cousins in Missouri. Interment will be at a later date at a private family cemetery in rural Missouri. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is taking care of Betty and her family.
