Betty Gant

Betty Gant, 71, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on December 20, 2019 at Southridge Specialty Care with her family at her side. Services for Betty will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour before the start of services. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Betty and her family. Betty Lou Tompkins was born January 26, 1948 to proud parents Donald “Slim” and Virginia (Rhiner) Tompkins. She grew up in the Marshalltown area and attended school at Green Mountain High School graduating in the class of 1966. Betty was united in marriage to Thomas Davis and as a result of this marriage they had two children together. The two later divorced but managed to raise their children successfully. Throughout her life, Betty lived primarily in Marshalltown but for a brief period of time she called the town of Lamoille home. She worked as a secretary for Packaging Corporations of America out of Marshalltown until later years where she retired.In her free time, Betty loved spending her time crafting, socializing with her friends at Southridge, she had a love of horses, attending bible studies faithfully at Southridge, having a high sense of fashion and keeping up with all current trends, and her love for her pets Cooper and Callie. Left to remember and cherish her memory are her children Julie Renee Davis and Sarah (Hank Stagner) Wallen; her grandchildren Amber and Jake Wallen; and one great granddaughter Kennedi Rain Wallen. In death she is rejoined with her parents; her two brothers Jack and Donnie Tompkins; and her furry four-legged companions Cooper and Callie.
