Betty Griffin

Betty (Heidke) Griffin, age 73 of Marshalltown, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Southridge Specialty Care.

Born Betty Anne Heidke on January 23, 1953, the daughter of Charles Heidke and Phyllis (Hackbarth) Bueghley. Betty attended Marshalltown Public Schools and continued her education at Marshalltown Community College.

Betty loved anything to do with cars – a true enthusiast. She never missed watching a NASCAR race, knew specifics on various kinds of cars, and loved hot rods. Betty also enjoyed art, especially coloring and sharing her work with others. She listened to rock N roll and dancing.

In death, Betty is reunited with her parents: Charles Heidke and Phyllis Bueghley; husband William Shoemaker; and her brother Douglas Heidke. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Charles “Chuck” Griffin of IL and Michael Griffin of WI; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty loved them all as her own and cherished time she was able to spend with them.
