Betty J. Hanlin, 85, of Montour, passed away Monday evening, December 7, 2020, at the Accura Healthcare of Marshalltown. A public graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 11th at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. No public visitation is planned. The use of masks is required as well the practice of social distancing. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care for Betty and her family. Betty Jane Hanlin was born on December 19, 1934 in Bangor, IA, the daughter of W.J. and Alice (Swedberg) McBride. She grew up in Marshalltown and attended public schools here. On December 20, 1952, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Hanlin in Marshalltown. The couple made their homme near Montour where Betty enjoyed ceramics and going to ceramics shows and sewing. Most of all she loved her family very much and she will be deeply missed. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 67 years, Robert “Bob”; her children: Marilyn (Richard) King, Bob (Sue) Hanlin, Jr., Laura (Bill) Davis and Penny Vranek; six grandchildren: Chad Rawel, Michelle Davis, Mike Davis, Leah Weir, Joe King and Mike King; and her siblings: Irene Ward, Wilfred, Ron and Richard McBride. In eternal life, Betty has been reunited with her parents, her sister, Winifred Ealy and her four brothers: Leon, Chester, Robert and Eugene McBride.
