Betty Hazen, 76, passed away on Monday evening, August 13, 2012 at her home in rural Liscomb surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be held graveside at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 10:00 to 12:00 pm at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. In lieu of flower,s memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown. Phone 641-844-1234Betty Margurite Hazen was born on October 12, 1935 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the daughter of Arthur E. and Lillian (Hornberg) Mills. Betty attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 1954. On April 12, 1958 Betty was united in marriage to Elvin E. Hazen in Lancaster Missouri, they had resided in rural Liscomb their entire married life. Betty enjoyed operating their mini-donut business, loved camping, fishing, shopping, arts and crafts and most of all, being with her family and friends.Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 54 years, Elvin, her children; David Hazen and Cindy Smith, and her grandchildren; Justin and Travis Hazen, her siblings; Gloria Hinders, Larry Jensen, and Sharon Kelm.Betty was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur and Lillian, and a brother: Bob Mills
