Betty J. Himes, 88, currently residing at the Southridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died Wednesday, May, 25, 2011, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Following cremation, memorial services for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. There will not be a visitation. Burial will take place at the Liscomb Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed in Bettys name to her family. Betty was born in Liscomb, Iowa, on January 24, 1923, the daughter of Ray Price and Fannie Clark. Betty was raised in the Liscomb and Clemons, Iowa, areas and graduated from the Clemons High School. During her lifetime Betty was the owner and manager of Bettys Caf in Liscomb, and served as the telephone operator in Liscomb for several years. In 1988, she retired from Northwestern Bell Telephone in Des Moines, Iowa, after receiving many volunteer awards throughout her career. Betty was also active in the community as a member of the Liscomb Legion Auxillary and was a member of the Marshall County Senior Citizens Center where she received several awards for volunteering her time and talents. Betty will be remembered as a lady who was always on the go and for her love of traveling.Betty is survived by her niece; Janet (Gerald) Hilsabeck of Marshalltown, her nephew; Alvin (Jan) Price of Ankeny, her neice Rita (Mike) Long of Nebraska, her grandchildren Angela and Sean Rogers, her three great-grandchildren and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her son Daniel Rogers, her brother Wendell (Laurene) Price, her sister Velma (Bob) Hof and her nephew Allen (Mary Lou) Price.
