Betty Lynch

Betty Lynch, 85, of Marshalltown, died early Tuesday morning at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services for Betty will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, October 22, at the New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown. Bettys family would like all in attendance to dress casually for her service. Burial will take place at a later date at the Chapel Cemetery near Gladbrook. She was raised and educated in Toledo and graduated from the Toledo High School. Betty was united in marriage to Marvin Lynch on December 24, 1944. Following their marriage they made their home in Marshalltown where Betty was a credit manager for Montgomery Wards for over 25 years, retiring only when the store closed. Betty enjoyed spending time with the Sweet Adelines Group of which she was a member for over 35 years. She also enjoyed cross stitching, puzzles, circle the word and visiting with everyone she came in contact with. Betty will be remembered as a person who never knew a stranger. Betty was a member of New Hope Christian Church, the Sweet Adelines, and the Women of the Moose.Betty is survived by her husband Marvin of Marshalltown, daughter Deb (Chris McDonald) Lynch of Nevada, her two sons; Gary (Phyllis Kroener) Lynch of Marshalltown, and Barry (Marlys Highland) Lynch of Marshalltown, her step-brother Harry Culbertson, her two grandchildren James and Shane Lynch and her two great-grandchildren Cole and Jase Lynch.Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Herb, a brother in infancy, her step-mother Doris Berry, a step-sister Sally Mancini and her two step brothers Bill and Bob Culbertson.
