Betty Ilean Stumbo, 69, of LeGrand, formerly of Nevada, died early Thursday morning, May 19, at the Grandview Heights where she has resided since January. Her death came peacefully while she was in the loving care of Iowa Hospice and Grandview Heights.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Born Betty Ilean Murray on August 1, 1941, she was the daughter of Floyd and Margrett Rhoda (McFarland) Murray. She received her education in Lucas, Iowa.On June 16, 1960, at the Salvation Army in Boone, she was united in marriage to Jake Stumbo. She was employed at Ames Laundry and later the Nevada Hospital. She enjoyed crafts, shopping and flowers. Left to cherish her memory is her niece Theresa Stansbury of LeGrand and nephew George Murray of Williamsburg, and many great-nieces/nephews and great-great-nieces/nephews she cherished the equivalent of her own children. In death she rejoined her beloved Jake, her parents, her in-laws Emitt and Pearl Phipps and brothers George and Tom.
