Betty Thomas, 88, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, June 7, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday. A memorial fund is being established. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born Betty Faye Orr on July 3, 1922, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of Robert Lee and Myrtle (Mark) Orr. She received her education in the Altoona High School.On February 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to Harry Marion Thomas in Indianola. She was employed at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown in the purchasing department and Marshalltown Schools. She was a member of the Marshalltown Lioness and ABWA (American Business Womens Association). Betty enjoyed sewing, crafts and time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Steven (Shirley) of Marshalltown, daughter-in-law Cynthia Thomas of Marshalltown, grandchildren- Lori (Larry)Stabenow, Heather Pfaff, Carrie (Greg) Godfrey, Nicole Steemer and Robert (Laura) Thomas, and great- grandchildren: Ashley and Allyson Stabenow; Damien, Christian and Cameron Pfaff; Aaron Thomas; Landon and William Steemer; Jacob, Grace, Abigail, Esther, Naomi, Anna and Isaiah Thomas. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1988, son Harry Ronald Thomas, a sister Evelyn Bowers and brother, Charles Orr.
