Beulah Mae Hansen, 81, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 at Grandview Heights Care Center. Graveside funeral services will be on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born June 26, 1926, in Somerset, Kentucky to F. Hubert and Dora (Wilson) Dobbs, her parents left their country home a few years later for Grinnell Iowa. Beulah grew up in Grinnell and attended Davis Grade School, Grinnell Jr. High and graduated in 1944 from Grinnell High School. On November 21, 1946 she married Lawrence Arnold Hansen, who had just returned from China, Burma, India, and WWII. They were married at the Baptist Temple in Marshalltown, Iowa by Pieter Smith. The couple farmed south of Marshalltown for many years. After the children were grown Beulah attended Marshalltown Community College and graduated with Associate in Arts and Science degrees. Beulah was a homemaker and worked some evening jobs at Fisher Governor and at the Iowa Veterans Home. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown and also a charter member of the Liberty Baptist Church. Beulah enjoyed her Church, music, canning fruits and vegetables form their garden, baking her pies, she loved yard work, picking berries in the timber, attending their childrens school activities and vacations in Canada. She loved to baby sit her grand children and her great grandchildren and could tell many funny stories about those days. Beulah is survived by four sons: Roger (Cindy) Hansen of Eldora, Iowa, Jay(Jamie)Hansen of Marshalltown, Iowa; Scott(Linda)Hansen of Rock Island, Illinois, and Paul Hansen of Independence, Missouri; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; three brothers: Paul Dobbs of Fresno, California; Earl Dobbs of Nashville, Tennessee and Johnny Dobbs of Marshalltown Iowa; three sisters; Rosa (Glen) Godfrey of Marshalltown, Mary Ann (Keith) Wilma of Gladbrook, and Georgia Colleen Dobbs of Nashville, Tennessee, along with many other friends and relatives. Beulah was pre ceded in death by her parents, a brother, Earnest Dobbs, her husband and her eldest son Larry Hansen.
