Beverly A. Harmsen

Beverly A. Harmsen, 64, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died Wednesday evening, April 3, at Marshalltown Medical Center due to complications of pneumonia. Private funeral services will be held at the Mitchel Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Maple Hill Cemetery north of Gladbrook, Iowa. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Beverly and her family. Beverly Ann Harmsen was born on December 12, 1948, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Ardis (Richards) Harmsen. She grew up in Garwin, Coralville, Story City and graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1967. She attended Marshalltown Deaconess Hospital and received her LPN degree. She worked in the field until she was diagnosed with MS in 1999. She was a member of M.S. People. Bev was a great caregiver and took good care of her mom and dad in their later years. She also was an animal lover and had several dogs. M.E. and Gracie were her girls. Beverly is survived by one brother, Gary, of Grain Valley, MO, and one sister, Shirley (Rick) Frette of Story City; two nieces, Nichole (Trent) Roehler of Lees summit, MO, and Stefanie (Ryan) Charlson of Story City; two nephews, Michael (Katie) Harmsen of Grain Valley, MO, and Ryan (Noemi) Frette of Scottsdale, AZ; one uncle Duane (Emma) Richards of Marshalltown, IA and many cousins and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
