Bill Shore, 85, of Marshalltown, died Sunday evening, October 9, at the Grandview Heights while in their loving care and that of Iowa River Hospice. His death came peacefully at 5:35 p.m. with his loving family at his side.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 17, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Iowa River Hospice. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Bill and his family. Ph. 641-844-1234.Born on December 13, 1925, in Union, Iowa, he was the son of Calvin Rockett and Cora Lee (Motsinger) Shore. He graduated from the Albion High Schools Class of 1943. Bill served our country honorably in the United States Army at the end of WWII and the months following.On Christmas Day of 1945, he was united in marriage to Mary Jeanne Veren at the Minerva Wesley Chapel. They made their home in Marshalltown where he was employed with Iowa Electric Light and Power for 28 years until retiring. His first love in occupation was farming. Bill was a member ofFirst United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge, and life member of both the Frank Lewis Glick Post #46 American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Harry C. Harter Post #839. He served as past commander of the Legion.Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Jeanne, his children: Karen (Micheal) Himes, Nancy (Richard) Vanderah and Tim (Marcia) Shore all of Marshalltown, grandchildren: Dawn (Kevin) Noel, Darcy Burns, Michele Bang, Bradley (Jenny) Weatherman, Abby Vanderah, Ryan Shore, Allison Shore and Lindsay Shore, five great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Emma, Sam, Jacob and Jace and his siblings: Arthur Lawrence Red Shore, Martha (Lowell) Keeler, Oscar Eugene Gene Shore and Virginia (Charles) Sloat all of Marshalltown as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.In death he rejoined his parents, grandson Phillip Weatherman and great-granddaughter Kaitlyn Weatherman.The family would like to thank Kim, Tracy, Melissa, Judy, Amy, Renee, Denise, Sallyand others at Grandview Heights who took such good care of Bill.
