Billy Massey, 66, of Lisbon, Iowa, passed away in the comfort of his own home on the morning of Sunday, December 18, 2022.
Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home beginning at 1:30 P.M. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Memorials in Billy’s name may be directed to the family for a later designation. Billy Gene Massey was born September 10, 1956 to parents Neil and Mildred (Sullivan) Massey in Huntingdon, Tennessee. He would later graduate from Crown Point High School in 1974. Following school, Billy enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country until he was honorably discharged and returned home.
On November 18, 1978 Billy was united in marriage to Barb Peek. They had resided in Indiana and had periods of time where they lived in Iowa. They began a family of their own raising their four children, Eric, Rhonda, Jessi, and Josh. Billy had numerous jobs over the years including working security, various factory work and then for Casey’s as a driver in Lisbon for many years. He and Barb later divorced in 1999. After separating, Billy and Barb remained close friends through the year.
Billy was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Tennessee. In his free time, he enjoyed shopping especially on Amazon, go fishing with his family, take camping trips, watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears games, and taking trips to Wrigley Field to watch baseball. He loved to spend time with his kids and grandkids, they were his whole world.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his children, Eric (Brittany) Massey, Rhonda (John) Eastridge, Jessi (Larry) Short, and Josh (Jackie) Massey; his grandchildren, Jayden, Aeslyn, Kenz, Chantyn, Keegan, Alex, Brhylee, Cheyenne, Kayleigh, Riley, Jordyn, Lincoln, Addyson, Alex, Kylie and Keagan; his siblings, Gary (Linda) Massey, Dan (Karen) Massey, Roger (Nikki) Massey, and Mike (Rosemary) Massey; alongside several nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Mildred Massey.
