Bishop Gould (2014- 2026)
Bishop came to live with Mike and Linda in 2017 after capturing their hearts at the ARL in Marshalltown. In no time at all, he had the humans wrapped around his paw, and had them catering to his every whim. When he wanted attention, he would let you know it. And that attention continued, whether it be ear scratches, a belly rub or being petted, until HE decided you were done. He loved playing fetch with his Kong toy and his soccer ball in the backyard. He also made sure that other little creatures (possums, squirrels and cats) knew that the backyard was his and that they had no business there. Bishop was not a dog that barked a lot, but would acknowledge your presence with a simple "Boof". When he was excited, his tail would swish back and forth twice and then start spinning in circles, like he was winding himself up. When he was displeased with you, he would look at you with his judgmental stare (honestly, that stare was a little intimidating). His absolute favorite thing in the whole world was being loved on by his humans.
On January 30, 2026 Linda passed away. Bishop became even more loyal to and protective of Mike. They were inseparable. Bishop's age was starting to show and he began to slow down, but remained faithfully at Mike's side. On April 4, he and Mike moved to a new home in LeGrand. On the morning of April 6, Bishop crossed the Rainbow Bridge. As he crossed, he was being loved on and comforted by his favorite human, Mike.
Bishop, we thank you for the laughs, loyalty, protection and most of all, the unconditional love. You will always be in the hearts of those that knew and loved you, especially Mike. We know that you are young again and pain free. We know that you have found Linda and the two of you will forever watch over Mike.
Run free, Bishop. You are the bestest boy!
