Blair Robins, 82, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday afternoon, September 18th, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 21st, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Harry C. Harter Post #839. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Born on June 10th, 1925, in Grundy Center, he was the son of Arthur and Louise (Hull) Robins. He received his education in the area of his birth. Blair served our country proudly in the United States Army during WWII. He served in Germany and was in the motor pool until receiving his honorable discharge. He was employed in the electrical profession and later at Fisher Controls as an inspector until retirement. Mr. Robins was a member of the Moose Lodge (Served as past-trustee), the American Legion, and UAW Local #893. On November 16th, 1984, he was united in marriage to Doreen Fiala at the Little Brown Church. He will be fondly remembered for his love of dancing, going to the casino, fishing, spending time in the garage, electrical things and his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Doreen, six children: Jeanette (Dave) Helland of St. Louis, Jeanine Worl of Chandler, AZ., Bruce Robins of State Center, Jeanelle (Milton) Sidwell of Phoenix, Jeanice (Jeff) Arment of Marshalltown, Jeananne Robins of New Providence, 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two brothers; Tom Robins of Longmont, CO., and Doug Robins of Independence, MO. In death he has rejoined his parents.
