Blake Thomas

Blake Thomas, 27, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away suddenly on the morning of March 15, 2020 at UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Funeral services for Blake will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Blake Clifford Thomas was born June 29, 1992 to Rochelle Thomas in Marshalltown, Iowa. He attended school in the town where he was raised. He went on to attend Marshalltown High School. For a short few months Blake worked at JBS in Marshalltown at the loading dock. Those who knew Blake could easily say that he was a kind hearted soul, a hard worker and that family was a big importance in his life. He loved making and recording rap music with his brother and best friend RJ. He would cheer for the Minnesota Vikings and would fight you if you had said there was a greater team. He was one who would love to joke around with people just to be able to see and get that reaction out of them. Blake had that personality where he would be mad at you only for a split second and be your best friend. This was apparent by the heart that he had for his friends, family and others. He was great with kids; it didn’t matter if it was a friend’s kids or someone close to him, he loved to be around them and was good at entertaining them with his infectious laugh. Although he is gone after such a brief time, he is never forgotten. Left to remember and cherish his memory are his mother Rochelle Thomas and his step father Carl Porter; his siblings, Robert Thomas, RJ Thomas, and Tahchelle Thomas; his nieces and nephews, Tayquan, Xayvion, Jayvohn, Elenua, Izek and Jamari. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Janice Thomas and Mary Spencer; his grandfather, Harvey Clark; his uncle, Destery Mangen.
