Blythe Wilma Clapper, 90, of Newton, formerly of Baxter, died Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Monarch Wing of Skiff Hospital in Newton. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30AM, Friday, October 12th, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. She will be laid to rest in the Restland Cemetery at Baxter with a time of fellowship at the church hall following the committal service. Blythe was born on October 14, 1916 to Lee and Virgil (Smith) Henneman in rural Baxter. She was raised in the area and graduated from Baxter High School. She married Wilbert Clapper on July 11, 1935 in Newton. She was a farm wife, a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter, a long time member of the Baxter Garden Club, and was a judge for numerous flower shows. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was very precious to her. Blythe leaves behind 3 sons: Gary (Neva) of Surprise, AZ, Dennis (Lena) Clapper of Rhodes, and David (Rita) of Duluth, MN. Survivors also include six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, and three sisters.
